NEW YEAR “FRESH IDEAS”

Posted by Charlene Fountain on

Sitting by the fire in my comfy slippers after the first week of 2016, I think about my life “To-Do” list. Working out with my trainer and diet is always on the list for the New Year. Spending time with my husband and children is top on the list as well. Turning ‘50’ is a big step for me! Next on the List: my house and interior design business. As a designer, I love helping clients with their homes and office, sharing design tips and secrets of the trade. My top recommendations: The easiest way to update any room is to buy new lamps with drum shades. Toss the pleated shades on your lamps! Those days are over. Next, update with a fresh coat of paint with cool grey or tranquil spa blue throughout your home. Other tips: adding grass-cloth or geometric wallpaper and of course some new “contemporary fresh artwork” by your favorite local artist. Liza Hathaway Matthews is one of my favorites!

Moving on: cluttered pantries and master bedroom closets — oh my, how that “stuff” of ours accumulates so fast. Some of my de-cluttering ideas: create more drawers, cubbies and lots of shelves. Utilize that vertical space on your walls, all the way to the ceiling. This is a must. For a cohesive, fresh look, get matching bins and baskets to tuck away all your stuff. Organize with marking labels on the baskets. Use a geometric wallpaper on back walls of larger pantries and cabinets  for a graphic punch. That’s all for now, I need to get back to working on our layout design for our new “CONTEMPORARY and FRESH” logo and e-commerce website for my design business........... Stay tuned for the launch coming soon!!
